Well, we finally made it through the longest January ever. I don’t know about you, but everywhere I look I’m terrified of finding classified documents. But you know what? There’s another exclusive club you can join that won’t result in a felony conviction if you misplace info -- the Bureau community! We have uplifting, enlightening conversations in our Slack, and I like to send out the best of that info every week in our email newsletter, which you should definitely sign up for.

But everyone gets info in their own way (RIP, Google Reader), and if you just can’t resist visiting our beautiful website regularly, I’m collecting the best of our newsletter content each month and posting it here. So let’s see what goodness helped us make it through the month.

Oh, the Humanity!

You’re never too old to stop, take stock of your life and career, and set goals to help you get to where you want to be. I did that recently, working out a strategic life map with Navigate the Journey, and it was an incredible experience. It’s a little daunting to sit down with a facilitator, but very therapeutic to look back on how you developed the patterns in your life and figure out a way forward. I was fortunate enough to be a guest on the Overly Human podcast and talk about it. If you want to know what it’s like, check it out!

More about being a person:

What a Tangled Web We, um, Market

Whether you build websites for clients or just need to keep yours up to date, compliance is becoming more of an issue every year. Data and privacy management are coming to the forefront of the user experience, and unless you have a huge legal team it’s not easy to make sure you meet the compliance requirements for each country you do business in. That’s where iubenda comes in. It helps you create and manage your privacy and cookie policy, terms and conditions, and more.

Business Basics

If you’re a fan of In-N-Out, you’re familiar with the idea of productized services: prepackaged offerings you can offer to companies without having to sit down and work out the full scope of what you can offer with a customized solution. It’s a great way to earn repeatable business and keep margins high enough. Some of the best businesses earn 80% of their revenue this way, so it’s worth considering. That’s about it for January. I hope this month brings you peace and love, even if you don’t decide to sign up for the Bureau newsletter. See you next month!
