Hello, and welcome to the most anticipated post of the year. We’ve been asked a bunch of times about the plans for 2018, and as you’ll see it’s an action-packed calendar. For those of you new to the Bureau, we provide events and online communities where digital professionals gather to connect with peers, explore ideas, and learn from one another. Here’s an explanation of the different types of events we’re putting on in 2018.
A Bureau Summit is one part traditional conference, one part facilitated conversations and 100% community building. We start the day with speakers and subject matter experts sharing great insights on stage to hundreds of attendees, and then break into smaller groups where you can connect based on criteria that matter to you.
Bureau Camps are smaller, 25-30 person gatherings where you have a voice in the agenda and the content. They take place in creative settings where you can forget the day-to-day and dive into the bigger issues that keep you from realizing your goals.
Please Note: A majority of Bureau Camps sell out more than a full month prior to the event, so this year we'll be using interest lists to help us make sure we’re being fair in allocating tickets and creating a more diverse experience. There is no obligation on your part to purchase when you sign up. But if you have your heart set on attending, you know what to do.
Online Events are new for 2018 and will give us a chance to share valuable content and connections to people who need it but may not be able to attend one of the Bureau’s in-person events.

Owner Summit 2018 - February 11-13
Owner Summit 2018 will take place at Wild Dunes Resort in Charleston, South Carolina. This is your opportunity to learn from some of the best digital agency owners in the business while connecting with your peers from all over the world. It’s designed for digital agency owners of small to medium-sized shops, but all are welcome!
Biz Dev Camp 001 | Coral Gables - March 18-21
One of the most popular topics at Bureau events is business development. So we decided it needs its own event. Get ready to talk sales, marketing, scoping, estimating, metrics and all the other things that make up business development.
Design Leadership Camp 002 | Koloa - April 16-19
Coming off an amazing inaugural event in 2017, Design Leadership Camp is where leaders of large creative teams get together to discuss everything from recruiting and retention, to design systems to organizational design.
Owner Camp 016 | Belize - May 6-9
Our most popular events, Owner Camp is the one that started it all. An opportunity for digital agency owners with shops of 10 employees or more to connect, share and sympathize about the joys and struggles of being in charge.
Operations Camp 007 | Utah - June 10-13
Operations Camp is where we take everything we know about running a digital agency, shake it up and put it back together with help from our peers. Topics often include resource planning, tools, pricing/billing models and team dynamics. It’s designed for those in the operations role at digital agencies with 10 or more employees.
Bureau Online Summit - July 20
The first Summit in our online series will focus on team dynamics, financial literacy, process, project management and business development. It’s designed for all roles at a digital agency.
Product Camp 001 | Bend - August 5-7
Product Camp is designed for those whose livelihood is managing a digital product, or products, they own. Just like our other camps, this will be an opportunity to connect with others doing what you do. Topics will include: DevOps, product feature selection, paid customer acquisition, culture, remote teams and more that you help determine.
Process Camp 001 | Bend - August 8-10
This is the event for anyone interested in improving the process of how they build digital products. Discussions will range from discoveries to process methodologies to team structures to quality assurance with a focus on actionable improvements that can be applied right away.
Digital PM Summit 2018 - September 4-6
The next Digital PM Summit will take place at the Guesthouse at Graceland in Memphis, TN. It is two days of engaging presentations, breakout sessions, and lightning talks exploring how we manage digital projects. Attendees come from all over the world to connect and share their learnings from working in digital agencies, higher ed, in-house teams and as freelancers.
Owner Camp 017 | C Lazy U Ranch - October 15-18
As our most popular event, we have two Owner Camps a year. And this one is gonna be all kinds of fun at the C Lazy U Ranch in Granby, Colorado. If you run a shop of 10 employees or more, join us as we learn together how to improve our digital agencies. You'll walk away with a community of peers always eager to help with the challenges you're facing.
Women's Leadership Camp 001 | Asheville - November 11-13
Our most requested new event, and the first event that is exclusively for women in leadership roles in the digital space. This will be an opportunity to connect with others who face the unique challenges you also face and find solutions to persistent problems.
Digital PM Camp 003 | Asheville - November 14-16
With a heavy focus on team dynamics, process and tools, Digital PM Camp takes those that are ready to take the next step from the Digital PM Summit. In-depth discussions, a strong community and a focus on real situations will give Digital PMs the focus they need to take their teams to the next level.
Creative Director Camp 004 | New Orleans - December 2-4
There are few bigger transitions than going from being a maker to being a manager. And Creative Directors face that challenge every day. Well, this is your event. An opportunity to discuss the challenges and find solutions with other creative directors at great digital agencies.
Operations Camp 008 | New Orleans - December 5-7
Our second Operations Camp of the year, join us to reconstruct the role operations plays in a digital agency environment using the collective knowledge and know-how of some of the best studio operators around. If you run operations at a digital agency with 10 or more employees, we'd love to have you take part.
