Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy
Access to and use of this website (the “Site”), which is owned by the Bureau of Digital, LLC (the “Bureau”, “we” and “our”), is subject to this Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) and our Terms of Service (the “Terms”). Please read this Policy carefully, and make sure you understand and agree to it, because, BY ACCESSING OR USING THE SITE, YOU AGREE (ON YOUR OWN BEHALF AND ON BEHALF OF ANY ORGANIZATION OR COMPANY YOU REPRESENT) TO BE BOUND BY IT. SO, YOU MAY NOT ACCESS OR USE THE SITE IF YOU DO NOT AGREE.

Summary
When you show interest in the Bureau or our events through this Site or elsewhere by providing us with your contact information, we often respond by offering to keep you informed about our events and programs. You have the choice of whether or not to give us your information or receive certain email announcements, though people who chose to become members are required to provide certain information, including an email address, when they register. Nonmembers can visit and use much of the Site without supplying any personal information.

Members
When you register for our membership program, we request your name,  email address, and company or employer name. The information you have supplied will be used to get a picture of our membership as a whole, to provide you with the benefits of membership, including publications, services and discounted registration for our events, and to provide you with information about our events, services and programs. Members can update personal information at any time by accessing their personal profile page.

Passwords
Please maintain the security of your login credentials and passwords, as you are responsible for the action of any person who logs into the Site using your credentials.

Sharing Information with Other Members
We will share certain personal information, i.e., names, email addresses, and phone numbers, with other members, unless you expressly opt out at the time of establishing your account.

Surveys
From time to time we may ask for personal or other information via surveys. Participation in surveys is voluntary. Information requested may include contact information, demographic information, and information concerning your skills, areas of expertise and subjects of interest. Survey information will usually be used for monitoring or improving the use of and satisfaction with this Site, our events and/or our programs, but may also be used to provide you with information regarding our events and programs.

Registration for Events
If you wish to register for an event, we ask for contact information such as your name, employer or company name, job title, telephone number, and email address. (Credit card information will be requested through a third party service provider. We do not store or process credit cards. So, be sure to review the third party provider’s terms and privacy policy at the time of the transaction.) Contact information is typically used to send you messages regarding the activity or event for which you registered, but may also be used to inform you of future events and programs.

If you wish to correct, update or remove your personally identifiable information from our database, or if you no longer wish to receive communications from us, you have several ways of getting in touch with us.

  • If you are a member, you can update your information at any time by accessing your personal profile page.
  • If you are not a member (or you are a member but need assistance), you can contact us directly at the Contact Info at the bottom of this page.
  • You may also unsubscribe from email communications as described below in the Communications section.

We take reasonable precautions to protect your information, including industry standard security and encryption practices. Please be aware, however, that we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information.

This Site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites; so, please be sure to review the privacy policies of such sites before providing your personal information.

Modifications
If we decide to change this Policy, we will post a notice of those changes. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify users via email, and users will have a period of time to choose whether or not we use their information in this different manner.

Third Parties
We will store your personal information and use it for the purposes described herein, but will not share it with any third parties, except as necessary to provide the services offered, to monitor usage, and to improve the service. For example, we may store your personal information along with your files and data on a third party server such as Amazon Web Services; or we may use a third party analytics tool like Google Analytics to learn how you are using the Site, and how we can improve that experience. We also use your personal information to send you notifications about the service and to respond to customer support requests. We won’t share your personal information with advertisers, but we may send you promotions for unrelated services unless you opt out on your personal profile page. You can access and change your preferences and personal information or cancel your account by logging in to your personal profile page. We may also share your personal information with a surviving entity in connection with any merger, consolidation, acquisition or other corporate transaction.

Required Disclosure
We may be required to disclose your personal information in order to:

  • comply with the law or legal process;
  • protect or defend our rights or property, or the rights or property of others;
  • enforce these terms; or
  • respond to claims that the content of any material on our system violates the rights of others.

Aggregated Information
We will also aggregate user information and perform statistical analyses of the collective behavior of our members and visitors, to measure overall demographics, and to analyze how to improve our Site. We may share this information with third parties (such as Google Analytics), but such aggregate information does not contain personal information other than IP addresses. In addition, we may compile and disclose aggregate information about our users for promotional or other purposes. For example, we might want to disclose that a certain percentage of our users are located within a particular geographic area or visit the Site more frequently at a certain time of day.

Cookies
We use session and login cookies, which help us keep track of when you are logged in and determine the content or sites users link to, and which services people use. We will also capture login timestamps, and usage statistics, as well as IP addresses.

Communications
We will communicate with you via email, to the email address you provide to us. Some communications, such as emails informing you of new features, may be unsubscribed to via the unsubscribe link in the email. If you would like to cease all communications from us, please send an email to admin@bureauofdigital.com and we will cancel your account. We may also have Slack, Basecamp and other channels of communication outside of email and the Site, which are not governed by this Policy.
