This October marks five years of the Digital PM Summit, a place for a new and growing digital project management community to convene. Over the past five years, the Digital PM Summit has served as a meeting place for people who lead digital projects to learn, share ideas, and meet like-minded industry friends. We’ve explored important topics that have not only strengthened attendees’ skills, but have strengthened our sense of community. This year, we’ll continue with that tradition, but will also celebrate who we are, and where we are now as a greater community. It’s not just about the people who end up in the room during our 2-day event, it’s about the people around the world who are a part of the ongoing conversation via Twitter, blogs, meetups, and other great events that have arisen since then.

Take the Survey

We want to kick off the Digital PM Summit 2017 by celebrating the community: that’s you! Because our community is vast in that we’re global, and we take on different roles and responsibilities and different types of organizations, we think it would be really interesting to see what we have in common in different areas. So, if you’re leading projects, we’re asking that you fill out a survey to tell us about yourself and your role.

The information provided will be completely confidential on a personal level, but will be used to share both statistical and anecdotal information about how the community has grown since 2013. We want people from all over the world to take this survey, so please share it with your colleagues. Please note: the survey will close by end of day (EDT) on September 1, 2017.

Record a Video

We’ve got a few surprises up our sleeves for the event itself, but one is that we want to create a video by and about the community. It will be shown on day one of the event to our whole conference, and we’ll post and share it online afterward. We’d love for you to participate if you’ve got a few minutes--whether you’re attending the Digital PM Summit or not. Again, it’s not about the event. It’s about the community.

This is all you’ll need to do:

1. Get out your phone or camera and get in front of it. (Quality doesn’t have to be professional.)

2. Answer these questions for us on video:

  • What do you love about the DPM community?
  • What does it mean to you to be a DPM?
  • What excites you about your work?
  • Where is the DPM community headed?

3. Save the video and send it to us no later than September 1, 2017 (a link to download your video is preferred, but do what works for you) at dpm@bureauofdigital.com. Be sure to include your full name, title, and company as you’d like it displayed in the final edit of the video

Looking for an example? We have one! Check out my recording for the project. It’s important to note that it’s not perfect: it was recorded with an iPhone as one long file. You'll even spot my flubs. It's all good! Our video editors will cut out the mistakes and make your video look good, as long as you have something great to say.

Be a Part of the Community

We talk a lot about our event, but we want you to know that we know that the community extends far beyond our gathering. It’s important that we shine a light on all of the great things that are happening. So, aside from participating in the two projects listed above, please stay in touch. Share your articles, links, and experiences with us, and we’ll do our best to share it with our community. Sign up for our email updates, and you’ll get more info in your inbox (not just event promos, we promise).

Seriously, this matters to us. You matter to us. High five!
